Privacy at a glance

No account is required for the public schedule or general app features. There is no advertising or cross-app tracking, and the native apps have no general-purpose analytics or advertising SDK. This website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics for aggregate traffic and performance reporting. Saved stops, favorites, appearance, and reminder preferences are stored locally.

Member Pass & staff scanner

When activated, Member Pass stores a display name, opaque pass credential, status details, and redemption records such as time, trailer, and item with The Roaming Bean's first-party service. A member who signs in with their email also has that address stored, used only to send sign-in codes and to put their pass on a new phone; it is visible to authorized membership administrators, is not shown to staff scanners or placed in the QR code, and is removed with the membership. Invited staff receive a staff device credential. The camera reads the pass QR only during an open staff shift; images are not stored or uploaded. A member can choose Delete my membership in the app. Active passes are revoked immediately; identifying profile details are removed, while an anonymized redemption ledger may be retained for business, fraud-prevention, or legal needs.

Location

Location is optional and helps sort nearby stops, estimate distance, and show map context. Automatic refreshes never open a browser permission prompt: the PWA requests location automatically only after permission is already granted, while a first prompt is limited to an explicit location or refresh action. The latest accepted web fix may be kept on the device for up to 24 hours so a reload or a later visit can use it as a visibly stale fallback while a fresh fix is requested; it retains its original timestamp and is removed on denial, when a previously granted permission reverts to Ask, or on expiry. After permission is granted, opening or returning to the app requests a fresh position. Scheduled app updates add a location refresh every five minutes while open. Turning that switch off keeps the launch and return refreshes. Watch companions follow the phone’s setting. The Roaming Bean does not maintain a location history. When Google drive routes are enabled, only a current, non-stale coordinate is sent for that route calculation and cached briefly as a hashed, rounded origin area; map, directions, calendar, or sharing providers may also receive location-related information when used.

Schedule, maps, and websites

The app downloads a public schedule and keeps a temporary local cache. Cloudflare processes standard request and security information. When used, Google Maps may process request and device metadata, IP address, map interactions, crash diagnostics, and a Maps-specific pseudonymous identifier; OpenStreetMap tiles are the website fallback. A typed home address, and the device's location fix when a place name is looked up for it, are sent to Nominatim (OpenStreetMap) for geocoding and reverse geocoding under the OpenStreetMap Foundation's privacy policy. External pages follow their own privacy and cookie policies.

Permissions and control

You can deny or revoke location and notifications and continue using the public schedule. Calendar, sharing, maps, and email actions occur only when selected. Clearing site data or uninstalling removes locally stored preferences.
